Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone: The New Zealand Chapter That Changed Everything.
New Zealand will always hold a very special place in my heart. It was the country where my career as a clinical therapist truly began, long before confidence or experience found their way to me.
I still remember walking into a sports medicine clinic in Christchurch for my first job. I was new. I was terrified. And honestly, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. But that role became the catalyst for the kind of growth no classroom or textbook could have prepared me for.
Within six months, I found myself:
• working with the New Zealand U21 cricket team
• delivering my first-ever presentation, on self-massage techniques, to a room full of U21 athletes (chaotic, hilarious, deeply uncomfortable 😅)
• launching a brand-new massage clinic inside a busy local gym
• navigating bookings, payments, business systems, and processes entirely on the fly
• and developing a level of resilience I didn’t yet know I had
Most people experience these milestones over several years. I lived them in half a year, because although I was scared, I was willing.
That choice - stepping toward discomfort instead of away from it - shaped every opportunity that came after. It taught me something I now share with clients, students, and colleagues:
Growth rarely feels comfortable.
It often comes disguised as fear, uncertainty, or imposter syndrome.
But those uncomfortable moments?
They’re doorways.
As we approach a new year, I invite you to reflect:
What might 2026 look like if you backed yourself a little more?
What if discomfort wasn’t a sign to stop, but an invitation to rise?
For those preparing to step deeper into menopause support, women’s health training, or clinical development, stay tuned. I’ll be releasing new masterclasses, training dates, and opportunities soon - all designed to help you grow, stretch, and lead with confidence.
Until then, here’s to the courage of stepping before you feel ready. 💙
